A Filipino Kids Pastor

Is Jesus the Hero or are you?

On my way home after attending the Christ-Centered Preaching seminar of Paul Barker I was just amazed how we can be doing “church” things but miss Christ. We may even be doing Victory Group or even church-ministry and end up glorifying ourselves instead of Christ.

Our messages should carry Christ in its entirety and not just use Christ as an intro or an ending. This is applicable may it be up on the pulpit or in our lives. When we preach Christ it will result in genuine change of hearts. When we show to others how Christ is the center of your life, your family or your work it will result to change hearts and that’s what we are after. Yes, we are praying for change lives, but it should emanate from a changed heart for Jesus.

Our lives should be Christ-Centered, we should readily acknowledge that apart from what Jesus did on the Cross we are all eternally doomed. As Christians, we lose focus so easily that we become the hero and Jesus is just our sidekick. We share our experiences; how we were changed by Christ, how Christ is using us, how without Christ we are helpless but there may be an underlying statement that it’s all about me, it’s all about us and then the spotlight is on us and not on Christ.

Lord, search me, turn me from self-centeredness, I really am sorry at times I became the hero and not You.

How very true! We should be the sidekicks of Christ and not the other way around, and that entails a love for Him that has to be constant and most of all honest :)

    Great entry, Ptr. Larry!
