Our family is moving to a new place now and the house we’re moving into is undergoing renovation. We are closing in to almost a month into our renovation. Yesterday before I got to the site I received a phone call informing me that the people working on the house were not allowed entry because it’s a holiday. We are expecting to move in the house in 2 days and there are yet things to be done.
I was in utter disgust; I just closed my eyes and was asking God, why. Why is this happening now? My wife and I with two helpers still pushed thru and went to the site. Since no one was working in the site we were able to organize the new place without any distraction. We even got to thoroughly clean most of the house. I was so proud of the accomplishment we did yesterday and I told my wife about it. She in turn reminded me that “small is bigâ€.
This principle, “small is big†is applicable to many things. I received a message last night of a person who last year was hundreds of thousands of peso in credit card debt but now is now almost debt free. She took it upon herself to slowly payoff her debt. There are times that we wait to earn big to pay off debt. But it doesn’t entirely work that way.
The same with saving money, we at times wait to earn big bucks to start saving. But putting off little at a time can go a long way. Look at the ants, they store up little by little for the rainy days.
It also is applicable in learning. I was never a learner, I don’t like reading books, watching documentaries or listening to pod casts. But now I have trained my self. I did it slowly, a chapter a day and until I got the knack for it that I’m into reading now. Small is really big and it has changed who I am and have changed my perspective for the better.
I remember this verse in the Bible, my favorite book, about a mustard seed, which is a very small, and yet when you plant it in the ground it grows to be a very big tree. So no matter how small your faith, your savings or your payment for your loan might be now, eventually it will grow big.
Great post bro…reminds us to go back to basics.
