Before I left home, I asked our house help, Rose who she is voting for. I was shocked to hear that it’s up to me who she will vote for. Some people still don’t realize that this is the great stabilizer. No matter what your status in the society is, you only get one vote. Whether you live in Forbes Park or in the benches of Luneta Park, you only get one vote. Whether you are educated in Ateneo or in Mataas na Paarlang M.H.Del Pilar, you only get one vote.
The talk of the town now is about our upcoming elections. Until now, I still don’t have a candidate for president. I remember one time sharing in a group who I’m thinking of voting for and eliciting a number of reactions. I was told not to vote for him because he sure won’t make it. How dare you tell me whom to vote for? This is my right as a Filipino. I will vote for whomever I like according to my faith & conscience. So what if he might not win, it is my right & my right alone.
Yes, you can campaign your candidate, show his platform of government and accomplishments. But don’t you ever trample on my right to vote for whom I deemed is to lead our country.
Another approached me with the principle of just picking a candidate among the top 2 so as not to waste my vote. My vote will only be wasted if I vote for someone that I don’t really like.
People of the Philippines on May 10, 2010 we exercise our right to suffrage. Vote according to your conscience & faith. Vote because you believe in your candidate. Vote because your vote will make a difference. Vote because our country depends on you.
God Bless The Philippines. Mabuhay ang Mamamayang Filipino.
Ako ay Filipino-I’m a Filipino
