LEADERSHIP 101: Communications & Clarity

I took the Strengths Finder last year and here is the result:
1. Communication
2. WOO (win others over)
3. Responsibility
4. Activator
5. Positivity

Communications is my top strength and it also is my number one weakness. I think while I speak, I make decisions while I’m talking. Those I lead were often left guessing because instructions or directions given were unclear. Even in my home, communication was an issue and you know that in marriage communication is a lifeline.

Things I learned:
1. Leadership requires clear communications; you have to be able to make explicit and clear directions to guide those you are leading.
2. A leader doesn’t have to be correct or certain at all times, yet clarity can overshadow uncertainty.
3. People would follow a bad leader than an unclear one, example Adolf Hitler.
4. Clarity needs both confidence and humility; confidence to make decisions and humility when you have to admit shortcomings.
5. Success in leadership brings more uncertainties; take these uncertainties as leadership opportunities.

  2. This is my first time to visit your site. I’m a filipino and a christian as well. i was led here by clueless church planter. And I’m happy i found your site.

About your post, i’m especially blessed with the humility part and learning to accept the mistakes. I am a leader as well and this i think is the hardest thing to do coz we think that it might degrade our leadership power but the real thing is when we accept our mistakes, it’s when our being a leader is proven and tested!
